As it is the case with other popular breeds of dogs, English Bulldogs' renown also has the other side of the coin. This popularity has prompted many purported dog-businessmen, who call themselves breeders, using the dog's popularity as a means for making fast money. This results in the infiltration of faults into the breed and affects the condition of the breed in general.
Therefore, it is very important to be able to tell a qualified and responsible breeder from a buck-oriented 'puppy-mill'. Breeding valuable champion specimen takes many years of thorough research and requires whole-hearted and sincere devotion to the cause and well-being of the English Bulldog.
There is no flawless English Bulldog in the entire world. What a true breeder is after is a constant pursuit of the sacred goal of producing a perfect species. Breeders of the whole world join their efforts together, sharing the results of their research and forming clubs and associations, which help scientists to monitor the condition of the breed on a global scale.
True breeders are never reluctant to share both positive and negative information about their puppies with potential buyers. They keep their puppies in proper conditions and provide all the necessary care to their pets. They never keep too many puppies, because they would have little time and energy for the correct care and maintenance of their dogs.
Responsible breeders never pass up time or effort in learning as much as possible about future buyers, because they consider the well-being of their pups in new homes their paramount goal. Therefore, they check potential buyers for their outlooks and views upon dog-ownership. They also study their houses, apartments and families.
Having collected enough knowledge about the buyer, they decide upon selling or not selling their pups to people. English Bulldogs are not for everyone, and the odds are that the breeder will refuse to sell his/her puppy to you if he/she considers your personality unsuitable for this breed.
