English Bulldogs Photos - General Description and Temperament

These dogs are very even-tempered and easy-going. They bark rarely, but have a way of snoring. English Bulldogs require permanent supervision and care, because, strong though they look, they have many weak points, which make them vulnerable to infection and diseases.

English Bulldogs Photos - Breed Description

English Bulldogs have broad heads with small folded ears, which are placed at a maximum distance from each other. The eyes are round and dark, neither protruding nor bulging, and they set wide apart. The skin on the muzzle is loose and wrinkly. The nose is wide and black, other colors are not desirable. The muzzle is 'turned-up', the jaws closing in a 'reversed scissors bite'.

The body is strong and muscular; the front paws emphasizing unsurpassed power and might. The neck is thick and loose-skinned, the wrinkles forming dewlaps. The shoulders are sloping, and they well fit in with the structure of the body. The front legs are set widely apart at the sides of the deep and spacious chest. The back is moderately arched and brawny. The hind legs are longer than the front legs, and they situate closer to each other. The tail is round, and it hangs straight down.

The coat is short and glossy. Usually English Bulldogs occur in brindle, fawn, white and red or in a combination of white with one of those hues. Despite short length, the coat requires regular grooming, because Bulldogs shed a lot. English Bulldogs are intolerant to heat, and they are better off in regions with cool climate.
